Tools
From The Official Geek Dads Weekly Wiki
There are critical tools and software used for recording the Geek Dads Weekly podcast. The usage is dependent upon who is responsible for the recording during a particular week, however Daniel has taken on much of that responsibility as the show has matured.
First and foremost is the use of Skype to make the call connecting all participants.
Joe uses:
- A Windows-based PC
- Plantronics 400 DSP standard USB headset
- Pamela for Skype recording software
- Audacity audio editing software
Daniel uses:
- A 17" MacBook Pro (2009) running OS X 10.6
- Plantronics .Audio 655 USB Headset/Microphone
- Audio Hijack Pro - system-wide audio recording
- GarageBand - multi-track audio editing
- Soundflower - audio routing (allows audio from one source to be piped into another source via software rather than hardware, e.g. Skype out to AHP rather than the headphones)
- ID3 Editor - tag editing for the episode mp3 file
