<itunes:summary>In this episode, the Dads talk about Drew's website hacking drama, social media engagement and the ethics of sponsored tweets. Why do some people have such a problem with sponsored tweets but not automated RSS feeds piped into their streams? We're getting into festival season, concerts are coming up, and hey, is this letter I got a scam? You want to renew my domains for $35 each? Really?

Daniel and his family moved from Albuquerque to Houston – the first topic of the show – and it really messed with the recording schedule. The winner of the Legacy Learning Learn and Master Guitar contest is announced, and the show wraps with a great discussion about the recently released Apple iPad. Joe is still bullish on the device, while Daniel is still very… not. At all.

It was a surprisingly solid recording, since Daniel’s son Ian ended up sleeping through the whole thing (very, very unexpected, that!) Enjoy!

“It’s been a crazy month or so for the Geek Dads, so apologies all around for missing a week here and there. <itunes:summary>This week Daniel and Joe welcome Drew Bennett from BenSpark.com (http://BenSpark.com) to the show. Topics include daily photos and photo projects, online privacy concerns, and Usenet. There's a fine line between educating the good guys and educating the bad guys when it comes to the types of information that can be found online, and the show wraps with a discussion about Rifftrax (http://rifftrax.com) and Cinematic Titanic (http://cinematictitanic.com).

"It's been a crazy month or so for the Geek Dads, so apologies all around for missing a week here and there. Things are going to get even crazier, for me at least, in the next three weeks or so (more about that later) but we strive to get our shows done on time, on Wednesdays." - Daniel

When you’re a work-at-home Dad and things get hectic, sometimes you miss an episode! Daniel and Joe are back after a week hiatus. They lead off with a brief update on the kids, then launch into some really fun stuff. The video of the panel that Daniel was on at Affiliate Summit is available for viewing, and Joe’s big takeaway from the discussion was the upsides of wikis vs. other website formats. Next, the Super Bowl – it was a great game, and the advertisements were all out there trying to do their best to be memorable, but one in particular sparks a terrific discussion: does Google’s ad point out that they are, in fact, trending toward evil? Microsoft was the Evil Empire in the 90′s, is Google having the crown resized to fit?

Also, the winner of our first Internet Marketing from the Real Experts giveaway has been announced! Shawn from Ohio is our winner, and we’ll be contacting him via email to find out where we should send his copy of the book. We have a few more copies to give away, but for our next contest, we’re changing it up. We want to hear from you! Tell us what kind of contest to run, and if your idea is chosen, we’ll send you a copy of Internet Marketing from the Real Experts. When we run the contest you suggested, the winner will receive a copy of the book. More details on the contest page!

It’s the first episode! Daniel and Joe are back from the Christmas holidays in a new year with a new show name and a new website. 2010 (is that ‘twenty-ten’ or ‘two-thousand-ten’?) is going to be a great year and the Geek Dads are thrilled that you’re along for the ride.

There were some recording issues this week that, regrettably, resulted in strong reverb on most of the show. Rather than trash the recording and skip the first week, it was decided to post it with as much clean-up as could be applied.
