This week Daniel and Joe welcome Drew Bennett from BenSpark.com to the show. Topics include daily photos and photo projects, online privacy concerns, and Usenet. There’s a fine line between educating the good guys and educating the bad guys when it comes to the types of information that can be found online, and the show wraps with a discussion about Rifftrax and Cinematic Titanic.
“It’s been a crazy month or so for the Geek Dads, so apologies all around for missing a week here and there. Things are going to get even crazier, for me at least, in the next three weeks or so (more about that later) but we strive to get our shows done on time, on Wednesdays.” – Daniel

When you’re a work-at-home Dad and things get hectic, sometimes you miss an episode! Daniel and Joe are back after a week hiatus. They lead off with a brief update on the kids, then launch into some really fun stuff. The video of the panel that Daniel was on at Affiliate Summit is available for viewing, and Joe’s big takeaway from the discussion was the upsides of wikis vs. other website formats. Next, the Super Bowl – it was a great game, and the advertisements were all out there trying to do their best to be memorable, but one in particular sparks a terrific discussion: does Google’s ad point out that they are, in fact, trending toward evil? Microsoft was the Evil Empire in the 90’s, is Google having the crown resized to fit?

The final season of Lost begins tonight on ABC, but neither Daniel nor Joe will be watching! Both are fans of the show but each has a reason for not watching as it airs – will this mean ignoring Twitter and Facebook for a few days to avoid spoilers? Speaking of TV, is the future of television season-based or will we see a move toward year-round programming as things move online? The Dads also cover CSAs (Community Supported Agriculture), the Wiki getting spammed, the “advertising tax” (also known as the “affiliate tax”) and the first Geek Dads Weekly giveaway! Sign up for the new GDW Newsletter to be eligible to win a free copy of Internet Marketing from the Real Experts, a great new book by The Gang of 88, edited by Shawn Collins and Missy Ward of Affiliate Summit. Full details can be found in the show notes.

It’s Apple tablet day! Daniel and Joe talk a bit about Affiliate Summit West, then give updates on the kids. Ian is walking! The main focus of the show this week though, is the long-awaited and much-rumored Apple tablet, the iPad (no, it doesn’t have wings). Joe is intrigued and largely in favor of the device, Daniel is… well, not.
